My Life Timeline Through Photos
My story starts in the small town of Rio Grande City, Texas. It is here where I learn to explore my imagination in the country everyday.

Little Emily
I think my love for the color pink came from my mother's desire to make me her little princess! It was at the age of 4 years old when I began to introduce myself to everyone as, "Emily Yaneth Perez, future actress and ballerina." Though I only trained in ballet for 5 years, I remained true to becoming an actor for the rest of my life.

Starting the craft!
I was in the 6th grade when my parents placed me in acting classes. Here I am in my first role ever playing the part of a little boy named Gabe. It was this year when my parents started thinking the activity was a cute hobby for me to do several hours a week after school.

Known in the Community
When every public theatre performance in the town is starring the same little lady, it's only a matter of time when the local community start to call me "La Artista." Rio Grande City High School had a small theatre program, but the knowledge that was obtained there was larger than one could ever imagine. " I came from a place that had nothing, so it taught me to use everything my mind could fathom."

College Acceptance
So I guess the "after school hobby" turned to something much greater than anyone was expecting. I accepted a full ride to the University of Texas at Austin BFA: Acting program the spring of 2019. Before I left to college, I visited the town country fair, I had my first ever headshots taken from a local photographer shooting for his photo book, The Faces of Texas for free after telling him I was an Actor.

College Perfomances & COVID
Like many, the pandemic caused further fear for the future for me. The spring of 2020, amidst the end of the world, I auditioned for a UT Theatre performance called, La Ruta, which was scheduled for showing in the fall of that year. Proudly, though it was not in person, I took part in the first ever virtual theatre production the country had ever seen. I was sent lighting and filming equipment that was controlled from the other side of the state!

On-Camera Work
Fully vaccinated and excited to see people in person again, my work on camera began in an array of projects with other fellow UT Austin students and alumni. It was exciting to be back and getting to apply my acting technique to the craft I had craved for so long.

On Stage Post Pandemic
Here I am in the role of Dolores in Sonnets for an Old Century. Directed by Corey Allen, the show highlighted the passing of loved ones and their last messages for the world. This UT theatre show brought me back to the stage after the pandemic, it saved me!

Texas to Los Angeles
Reaching my senior year, I moved to L.A for my last semester of college to study the business and art of acting in this market. Though I love hiding behind academia, I am eager to learn more about the craft by using my acting technique in more projects. Stay tooned, for my life as an actor!
